Mid-March garden

At the beginning of the month the only thing in flower was the Hamamelis and a few snowdrops. Now the weather has changed and there is a sea of snowdrops, a few Helibores and Crocuses and my lovely little Irises.

The Hamamelis is beginning to go over but it has earned its keep and I have already given it a top-dessing of some left-over ericaceous compost.

Ravishing irises. How lovely. Your post has reminded me how much I want to plant a hamamelis too.

Your irises are lovely, for some reason mine haven't come up this year. Hasn't it been a long season for snowdrops. Mine are just going over but have been out since the middle of January, despite having been frozen solid on at least three occasions.

Lampie, mine were covered in snow until about the end of February.
I love the Irises too

I love your Irises. My garden is known as where Irises come to not bloom. Most Irises won't bloom in Georgia so I've ordered a bunch of Louisiana Irises that will grow in water in hopes that they will like my boggy yard.

What compost Withy?? It's plain old sheep poo here in Oz, though with our recent aquisition of two Pandas from China here in South Australia, the zoo is doing a roaring trade selling bags of Panda poop for the garden. Can see an epidemic of invasive bamboo shoots appearing in Adelaide gardens soon, but perhaps that's the insidious plan to supply future feed! Your garden is lovely. No bamboo I note.Wise.

Love those Irises. I have some bright yellow bog irises, though I'm wondering whether they will flower this year.

Isn't it such a joy to see the Spring arrive? The daffs have made good progress this past week. I like to garden at this time of year - there is so much promise of what is to come, and I feel we are due a good Summer. The little irises are so cheerful.

I adore the Iris's Withy, love the deep blue colours too.

My gardens are looking a little sad at the moment, but the daffodil's have just shown their heads and I noticed this morning that the Dutchman's Breeches (bleeding hearts) have just begun to sprout.

Lovely flower pics Withy.

I love the way that as the days warm up more and more colour invades the garden. We have a potential sea of dog violets in the offing more than ever before! I just hope I can get my head round my digital camera to show everyone. Your garden always inspir4es...
